My nickname is a pun on who I am. I will probably never win first place for anything. I am not one of the "super" athletes than can run a 5K in 15 minutes without dropping a bead of sweat. And I got a watch just so I could know how much time I had left before the course closes. I'm not likely to appear on the cover of Runner's World anytime soon, unless they're doing a story on the tragic accident...
I do this because I love exercise, I love the challenge of races, I love the people I meet in the racing/endurance community, and I love seeing the sites and places highlighted by many events. For example, if it weren't for the WDW Marathon Weekend, when else would I be able to walk or run in the private back lots and roads of Disney without getting chased by security?
It doesn't matter if people are passing me or if I am passing people. I am not competing with the others on the course. I am competing with myself, to see how much I can accomplish and how far I can go.
